Herb Gorman bold pencil signature on an index card with nine other members of the “San Diego Padres 1952 Pacific Coast League Baseball Stars” team including manager Lefty O’Doul Jack Tobin, and Lou Klein (originating from Roy Pitts’ collection and displaying notations in Pitts’ hand including the heading). Gorman played in just one major league game when he pinch hit for the Cardinals on April 19, 1952. Less than a year later, while playing for the San Diego PCL club he left a game after hitting two doubles when he complained of chest pains. He died of a heart attack later that day at the age of just 28. His autograph is extremely rare.
