Elmer Gedeon played in 5 games for the 1939 Senators during one September week. Within two years he was drafted and on April 20, 1944, Gedeon was killed when the B-26 plane that he was piloting was shot down over France on a bombing mission. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery and is one of two MLB players killed in WWII and one of six total who have died in combat. His autograph is enormously rare and this is but the second example that we have offered. It is the first we have seen in many yearsnd resides on a full AP in blue fountain pen ink with eleven (11) teammates!
